Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important representative commented the vandalism left him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
